Online Workshop: Risk management for an effective energy transition
March 12, 2025
12 March, 2pm to 5pm AEDT
Online workshop
You are invited to a half day interactive workshop on public safety assurance in the energy transition. Drawing on the outputs of project RP2.3-08, the session focuses on sociotechnical risk management. We expect these project outputs to be put into the public domain.
The gas industry is in transition with new technologies and new infrastructure coming online now and in coming years while existing infrastructure must continue to operate safely. Ensuring that the gas sector’s excellent safety record is maintained and that the transition benefits all Australians requires effective risk management – not just in a technical sense but focussing on the people and technology together.
Come along to this online session and learn about:
- What are sociotechnical risks?
- How are they best managed during the energy transition?
- What can we learn from relevant accident cases?
- The SOTEC Framework – social, organizational, technical, epistemic and cultural sources of risk.
The workshop will include time to reflect on how these principles can be applied in your own areas of responsibility.
If you are within the industry and you or your colleagues are interested in participating or would like further information, please email jan.hayes2@rmit.edu.au.
